Take the Ferry to Cape May

Day Trip

STEM Connection

Cape May is home to a wonderful zoological park.  Ibis, Oryx, Lemurs, and Tamarin, oh my!  So many different animals to learn about...and it's free - though they do appreciate donations so they can keep it free.  When you get weary of learning about all the cool animals, you can stop by the Safari Cafe for a quick sandwich.  After the zoo, we recommend finding your way to the elementary school on Lafayette to park (for free) so you can catch the trolley to the Washington Street Pedestrian Mall.  The trolly ride will take you past some amazing architecture and the mall has all sorts of fun stores.  If you're in the mood to find out how outstanding donuts are made, (because machinery that makes awesome smelling food is our favorite kind of engineering!) you'll want to stop in RSK donuts for a bag of lil' orbits.  However you get there, a day trip to Cape May will be packed full of STEM lessons on human history, animals, plants, and architecture.

Ideas, Notes, & Tips

There is SO much to see in Cape May, but if you're kids are more interested in, say, design engineering of roller coasters, then we recommend getting off the ferry and heading straight for Morey's Piers in Wildwood.
