Day Trip

STEM Connection

There's nothing like hopping in the car and heading out for a big day trip.  Trap Pond has an overwhelming about of STEM-tastic things to see and do!  The nature center is a great place to start.  Check out the huge fish tank, and be sure to ask where they like to take the snake for a walk!  The kayak and boat rentals are nearby.  There's nothing better than getting out on the water to really see how the ecosystem works for the fish, birds, plants, and trees.  Which brings us to our favorite part of this park - the bald cypress swamp!  It's legendary and unforgettable.  Be sure to ask the nature center staff about the origins of the swamp and exactly how to get that.

Ideas, Notes, & Tips

There's a cool little camp store a little ways from the nature center.  The sell snacks and camping things.  Next door to the little store is also a place to borrow a bike.  The terrain is flat, but peddling to the water is a bit of a ride.
