STEM Connection

The glorious science of a water slide is straight up Newton's alley.  Friction, mass, and gravity with a little water to reduce the friction - aka - make it slippery.  And who invented the first water slide anyway.  Oh wait!  We're the Explorium Emporium.  It's our job to know stuff like that.  Turns out the inventor of the first water slide was Herbert Sellner!  And he lived in Minnesota of all places.  And, he also invented the Tilt-a-Whirl.  He called his first water slide the Water Toboggan Slide and he came up with it in 1923.  Before you head over to the park, ask your future STEM-tician to draw out what he or she might want to invent one day.
