Visit Gordon's Pond at Cape Henlopen State Park

Gordon's pond is a mecca for all types of wildlife...and all types of STEM lessons. About .7 miles in, after a 14 minute walk, you'll arrive at an overlook area. There, you can go up on the platform to see a wide expanse of the pond. Depending on the time of year, you'll see all wildlife of the season in action. There are plaques to help you identify some of the birds you're seeing. Orenthologiest everywhere would enjoy this overlook as it's teaming with great sites and sounds of nature.
In addition, the trail map for Gordons Pond is a great opportunity to introduce your future STEM-ologist to orientering...aka - a fun geography navigation activity.

Here's a quick link to a trail map of Gordons Pond. It's a flat, crushed gravel surface - good for biking and hiking. Note: You can't actually go all the way around the pond easily. Be sure to study the map in order to chart your adventure.
Ideas, Notes, & Tips
There's a nice pavilion nearby. If it's not being used, it's good for a picnic...and maybe even home base for a nature scavenger hunt. We recommend this one.
